School of Arts, Development and Health Education
Within the School of Arts, Development and Health Education approximately 30 members of staff contribute to a range of research in their fields of education as well as teaching programmes within the College of Education. Members of staff have expertise and knowledge in the following areas:
- Visual and Performing Arts Education
- Counselling and Guidance
- Early Years / Early Childhood Education
- Human Development
- Health and Physical Education
The School offers papers (internal and external) to undergraduate and postgraduate students. Internal papers are taught at Albany, Napier, and Palmerston North. "On-line" papers reach students across New Zealand and abroad.
The papers in our School prepare students for careers in early years, primary and secondary teaching and we also offer degrees in subject specialities. Our postgraduate offerings emphasise research and theory in a range of disciplines including early childhood, guidance and counselling, human development, curriculum and teacher learning.
The School has a commitment to research and professional development in schools and early childhood centres and to national and international education initiatives.
Individual staff members are well-respected contributors to the arts, early years / early childhood, counselling and guidance, human development, physical education and health communities of New Zealand and abroad. Our staff members are well qualified and look forward to hearing from you.
