Expertise
New Zealand Literature has been at the centre of Dell’s research interests. She was a Guest Professor at the Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel, where papers she taught included ‘The Development of the New Zealand Short Story’ and ‘Maori Culture and Literature’.
Dell has recently completed a literary biography of author C. K. Stead, for which project she gained a CLL Award (Copyright Licensing Ltd) in October 2006. Her next endeavour, entitled Let the Writer Stand: Vincent O’Sullivan, considers the contribution of this distinguished writer and academic to New Zealand Literature.
President of the Manawatu Branch of the Federation of Graduate Women, Dell is also an executive committee member for the local branch of National Council of Women. As a member of Te Manawa Art Society committee, she is an editor for Collectively Speaking, to be published in 2009 by Dunmore Press, celebrating fifty years of the Society’s acquisitions for the Art Gallery in Palmerston North.
Author of one volume of poetry, Dell continues to write whenever possible. Tai chi and walking keep her fit.
