Karen Jillings
Main research interests are in the study of epidemic disease, especially plaque and its effects during the middle ages and early Modern period. She has particular interests in the way in which governments, communities and individuals throughout Europe responded to outbreaks. Main research interests concern contemporary issues in the philosophy of perception - an area of philosophy which lies at the intersection between the two major fields of epistemology and the philosophy of mind. He is currently in the process of writing a book which develops and defends a relatively new kind of 'disjunctive' theory of perception.

This necessitated a close examination of the writings of many important figures in the history of philosophy including Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau and Kant as well as more contemporary figures such as John Rawls and Robert Nozick.
