Student Travel Subsidies

As in the past, ASCS has again set aside an amount of money to provide subsidies for postgraduate and other students at both Australian and New Zealand universities towards the cost of travel to attend ASCS 35 in Palmerston North, New Zealand. Any subsidy provided is not intended to cover the total cost of travel but to assist with the cost; it is not intended to be used for the costs of registration or accommodation. There is a limited amount of funding available and we wish to share it around; subsidies will be proportionally based on the relative distance that each applicant has to travel. The usual subsidy is in the order of AUD$250 but this year we are hoping to be more generous depending on sponsorship level. Students are also encouraged to investigate whether funding for conference travel is available from their own department or university.

Conditions

It is a condition of applying for a subsidy that you are a current member of ASCS (the student subscription is AU$30.00/approx. NZ$35.00 pa).  You can apply for membership using an application form which you can download from the ASCS website (www.ascs.org.au, and click on “membership”).

How to Apply

To apply for a subsidy, you need to contact the ASCS Postgraduate Representative, Nathan Leber (ncleber@riverview.nsw.edu.au) and ask for a form to be sent to you.  Complete the form and send it back to Nathan by Friday 29 November 2013.  Enquiries can be directed to Nathan Leber or to the ASCS Secretary, Kathryn Welch (kathryn.welch@sydney.edu.au).
