Diversity in Philosophy Symposium

‘New Routes to Diversity in Philosophy: Contributions from the Pacific and Australasia’

18-19 August 2017
Auckland, New Zealand

Atrium Building, Massey University East Precinct, Dairy Flat Highway (SH17), Albany, Auckland 0632, New Zealand

This symposium will feature invited speakers and panelists on a range of questions and areas of philosophy, including:

  • Indigenous knowledges
  • Engaged Epistemologies
  • Comparative Philosophy
  • Metaphilosophy

The symposium aims to:

  • Build a community of diverse philosophers within the region – both by 1) acknowledging (the existence of, and further need for) philosophical diversity, and by 2) creating space for dissemination of and engagement with diverse voices and perspectives.
  • Begin to construct a platform upon which rich and diverse perspectives might one day co-exist and converse as equal partners within the region.
  • Begin to discuss how future regional diversity in philosophy events can be supported.
