Profile
Usha is Professor of International Business in the School of Management at Massey University. Her research focuses on multinational corporations and international strategic management, especially in Asian and Emerging Markets, including business-government relations, strategic decision-making, sanctions and subsidies. She has more than 180 publications and presentations including 24 journal articles, 35 book chapters and 7 books, 2 of which have been on international best-seller lists. She has testified on her research on China/Asia to the United States Congressionally mandated US-China Economic and Security Review Commission (in 2006) and the United States House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means (in 2007) on the US federal legislation, the Non-market Economy Trade Remedy Act. She has presented on her research on China before the US International Trade Commission, US Department of Commerce and US Trade Representative (in 2007, 2009 and 2010). She serves or has served on 6 international corporate, non-profit and governmental planning and advisory boards and sits on 5 journal editorial boards. She has served on national and international review boards including the Networks of Centers of Excellence (Canada) and the Marsden Fund (New Zealand). Her expertise has been profiled over 300 times in the international media including the National Business Review, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Fortune, Forbes, Investor's Business Daily, San Francisco Chronicle, International Herald Tribune, CNN, BusinessWeek, Economist, Barron's, Newsweek, Entrepreneur, NPR, PBS and Voice of America. In 2003, she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Literati Club (UK) and a panel of academics, businesspersons and policy makers for contributions to understanding business in the Asia Pacific. In Septmber 2011, she presented as a Thought Leader on business and government in China at the Economist's flagship High-Growth Markets Summit in London.
