Staff within the School are involved in research that straddles Māori development, health and language as well as visual culture. This makes it an exciting and creative place.
Students are introduced to Kaupapa Māori as a theoretical and methodological approach. We place an emphasis on research that promotes a Māori world view. We also publish the journal He Pukenga Kōrero.
Our research is described by these themes:
We maintain research connections with Te Runanga Nui o ngā Kura Kaupapa Māori o Aotearoa, Te Whariki, Te Māngai Pāho, Te Puni Kōkiri, Creative New Zealand, Ngā Pae O Te Māramatanga, the Ministry of Culture and Heritage and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
