Postgraduate Certificates
Postgraduate certificates and diplomas are programmes of professional education aimed at people who wish to gain specific knowledge and education in their area, or others who wish to enter the profession by way of endorsement. Students can continue on to a Masters programme upon completing these qualifications in consultation with the programme co-ordinator or Head of School.
The Postgraduate Certificate in Arts (PGCertArts) is made up of 60 credits at 700-level, usually from a single subject area. It can be used as a stepping-stone to proceed to a Postgraduate Diploma in Arts or a Master of Arts. Papers are selected from the BA(Hons), Masters or Postgraduate Diploma in Arts schedules.
The Postgraduate Certificate in Science (PGCertSc) is made up of 60 credits at 700-level. Students from our School usually take Physical Geography papers selected from the BSc(Hons) or Masters of Science schedules.
Postgraduate Diplomas
A Postgraduate Diploma allows students to complete papers at 700-level in a specific area. It may be taken alone or used as a bridge to a Masters programme.
Our School offers a Postgraduate Diploma in Arts (PGDipArts) which is normally made up of 120 credits at 700-level. The PGDipArts is available in the following subject areas:
Physical Geography students can choose to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Science (PGDipSci). This is a course of study offered through the College of Sciences that is open to graduates who wish to pursue advanced studies in Physical Geography.
Our School also offers three specialised Postgraduate Diplomas:
- Postgradute Diploma in Development Studies (PGDipDevStud)
- Postgraduate Diploma in Museum Studies (PGDipMusStud)
- Postgraduate Diploma in Social Sector Evaluation Research (PGDipSSER)
- Postgraduate Diploma in Planning (PGDipPlan)
