Please allow at least 3 working days for the turnaround of assignments submitted to this service.
About the service
- This free service for distance and first-year students offers you an opportunity to send your draft assignment to CTL Writing Consultants for review and advice.
- You can submit 2 assignments to the service per semester.
- The time given to each assignment will be limited to one hour.
What we will need from you
Completion of the Online assignment submission form (see below) which includes:
- Full details of the assignment topic or question.
- Relevant instructions.
- Assignment due date.
- Your questions or concerns about your draft.
What we will do
- Provide feedback and advice about any difficulties we identify within your draft.
- Respond to your questions with relevant information as to how these matters can be overcome.
- Comment on one or more of the following features: focus, style, presentation and referencing.
What we do not do
- Identify every mistake or error in your draft. This is not a proof-reading service.
- Respond more than once to the same assignment.
- Respond to more than two assignments per student per semester.
- Indicate a grade for your assignment.
- Comment on matters directly relating to course or subject content.
How do you submit an assignment?
- Complete the pre-reading submission form in the Academic Writing and Learning Support Stream course.
- Some attachments cannot be opened by Massey systems. To ensure that your work can be quickly opened by the Writing Consultant, save your work as a Microsoft Word '.doc' file, or as a Rich Text Format '.rtf' file.
- Need help? Click on a link below for extra help.
How do we respond?
- You will receive your assignment back via the Stream pre-reading form. It will be marked with comments and suggestions.
- You will also receive a PDF summarising the consultant’s feedback.
- Note that we do not provide a fully corrected draft.
- The Writing Consultant may also attach appropriate material which will help you address identified problems.
