Introduction

Contact courses are an opportunity for you to interact with other extramural students taking the same paper and to receive face-to-face tuition. They are designed as an integral part of your study programme and you should plan to attend if possible. Your contact course details will be e-mailed to you, along with an invitation to register for your contact courses (or a confirmation, if you have already registered).

Contact courses may be held at Massey’s Albany campus (located on Auckland's North Shore), Manawatu campus (located in Palmerston North), and Wellington campus, as well as at a Christchurch venue. Overseas students should only enrol in papers with compulsory contact course requirements if you are prepared to return to New Zealand.

Contact course dates, times and locations

Contact course dates and venues are available by going to our paper search page and entering a paper number and then clicking the More info link in the Dates column.

For room locations and start and end times for upcoming contact courses, see contact course rooms and times. This listing is updated if a contact course’s details change, so you are advised to check prior to making travel arrangements.

Registering for a contact course

If you enrol in a paper with a "compulsory" or "absolutely compulsory" contact course, there is a requirement for you to attend and you will be sent information irrespective of whether or not you register. If you are unable to attend, you should contact the course coordinator to apply for an exemption before you enrol in the paper. It is essential when you are choosing your papers that there are no clashes of compulsory contact courses. The University’s preferred method of contact is via e-mail. Please ensure that your e-mail address is current.

If you enrol in a paper that has either a "voluntary" or "strongly recommended" contact course component, you need to register in order to get date and venue information. If you do not register no information will be sent.

Please note that a contact course may be cancelled if there are insufficient registrations, so please do register well in advance. This can be done by using any of following methods:

  1. Log into MyMassey and click the Online Enrolment link and then Contact courses from the Follow your progress menu.
  2. e-mailing contactcourse@massey.ac.nz
  3. contacting Massey Contact

Extramural students attending contact courses are welcome to make use of any of the on-campus Student Services provided.

How can we help you?

The contact course coordination team administers and coordinates approximately 700 courses across Auckland, Wellington, Palmerston North and Christchurch. We can help you with any contact courses queries, provide on-campus knowledge and assist with any difficulties you may encounter whilst at the course. The team works closely with all extramural student services to ensure information is accurate, timely and comparable.

If there is any way we can assist you please contact us by e-mail on contactcourse@massey.ac.nz or contacting us using any of the methods listed on the Contact us page.
