123.103 Introductory Chemistry (15 credits)

An introductory course in chemistry suitable for students with little previous experience in the subject. The basic concepts of chemistry, including atoms and molecules, the periodic table, chemical reactions, and chemical energetics, are taught with contextual references to everyday life.

Note(s): For Distance Students: The practical assignments can be completed at home. A kit with some items for experimental work will be mailed to you. Other items are easily obtained from hardware/garden stores or online.

  • This course is designed to equip you for 1st year university courses that require chemical knowledge. If you haven't got the background the following bridging courses will help you prepare for this course: 247.002 and 247.003.
