The Graduate Diploma in Arts (Asian Studies) is a bridging tool for graduates in other subjects to get the equivalent of a major in Asian studies. You can then go on to a postgraduate qualification in Asian studies if you wish.
On this programme you’ll focus on the real-world issue of New Zealand’s relationship with Asia in the 21st century. You’ll consider the economic, political, strategic and social aspects of this relationship. By enhancing your Asian cultural literacy you’ll help New Zealand benefit from its links with Asia.
You’ll gain an understanding of Asian cultures, their divergencies and similarities, from different disciplinary and thematic perspectives.
The marketplace needs skilled graduates who understand Asia. You’ll be an asset in areas such as diplomacy, healthcare, international business, secondary teaching and tourism.
