Entry requirements

All students must satisfy the requirements for entry into Massey University. Admission to this programme is with a University degree, or under admission with equivalent status. You need to satisfy the School of Aviation that you have the background and relevant experience to follow the programme with a reasonable chance of success.

Graduate Diploma in Aviation (Aviation Studies):

Please upload a copy of your curriculum vitae (CV) including academic and work history.
Graduate Diploma in Aviation (Flight Instruction):

Admission to this endorsement requires that the candidate will also:
hold a Class One medical Certificate recognised by the CAA NZ and meet appropriate pilot aptitude selection criteria as defined from time to time by the School of Aviation, and
hold a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) - Aeroplane (A).

Please provide a copy of your Commercial Pilot's Licence. You can upload an electronic copy of this document, but please also supply a verified hard copy to the University.

Please provide a copy of your NZCAA Class One Medical Certificate. You can upload an electronic copy with your enrolment.

  1. All candidates commencing study towards the Graduate Diploma in Aviation on or after 1 January 2016 must satisfy the requirements specified in these regulations.
  2. All candidates who commenced study towards the Graduate Diploma in Aviation prior to 1 January 2016 and who passed at least 60 credits whilst enrolled in the Graduate Diploma in Aviation, may complete under the regulations in the 2015 Massey University Calendar (or earlier regulations) until the end of the 2017 academic year.
  3. Candidates who commenced study towards the Graduate Diploma in Aviation in 2015 or earlier may choose to transfer to these regulations, but must satisfy all requirements specified in these regulations.
  4. Candidates who commenced study towards the Graduate Diploma in Aviation prior to 2016, but who do not meet the requirements for Regulations 12 and 13, will be required to transfer and complete their qualification in accordance with these regulations.

These transition arrangements expire in 2018.

Graduate Diploma in Aviation structure

The Graduate Diploma in Aviation consists of 120 credits at 200 and 300-level from the Schedule to the diploma including at least 75 credits at 300-level.

Note: Candidates are deemed to have met the prerequisite requirements for the 200-level courses listed in the Schedule when they have been admitted to the programme.

There will also be compulsory non-tuition fees you have to pay in addition to your tuition fees.
