Entry requirements

To enrol in Intensive English, you must be at least 17 years old. If you are not a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, you must apply for the appropriate visa.

You will be required to sit an online English language placement test in your home country to determine the appropriate level of class to support your language development.

Certificate in Intermediate Intensive English structure

Pathway

When you successfully complete a certificate in Intensive English, you have the option of progressing on to the next level or possibly moving into another Foundation programme.

If you are planning to undertake undergraduate or postgraduate study at university you may consider a Direct Entry English Pathway (DEEP or DEEP Advanced). Students in Intensive English are able to sit an internal placement test for entry into these programmes.

These regulations should be read in conjunction with all other Statutes and Regulations of the University including the General Regulations for Undergraduate Degrees, Undergraduate Diplomas, Undergraduate Certificates, Graduate Diplomas and Graduate Certificates

The Intensive English courses will help you to develop your knowledge of English vocabulary and grammar as well as improve your skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking.

How much will it cost?

We can't tell you the exact cost until you have chosen your courses, as the tuition fees you pay each year vary depending on the courses you choose. There will also be compulsory non-tuition fees you have to pay in addition to your tuition fees. For some courses there may be other charges for things such as study resources, software, trips and contact workshops.
