Next Generation Sequencing with the MGS
Massey University along with the University of Otago and University of Auckland have built a partnership with New Zealand Genomics Ltd (NZGL) to create a collaborative approach to extending New Zealand’s expertise in Next Generation Sequencing and Bioinformatics. Under NZGL’s collaborative model, there will be a range of Next Generation Sequencing services being offered across the three organisations. NZGL will be investing in bioinformatics personnel and state-of-the-art Next Generation sequencing instrumentation to be implemented at various sites around NZ. These services will cater for researchers undertaking very large sequencing projects through to the smaller sequencing projects. Massey Genome Service (MGS) has invested in two Illumina MiSeq™ instruments to cater for the small scale research projects.
The Illumina MiSeq™ sequencing through Massey University is offers the following applications as a part of the NZGL services being provided:
- Genomic DNA Sequencing – Genomes <20 Mb
- Sequencing PCR Amplicons
- Metagenomics
- Clone checking
- Small RNA Sequencing
All enquires and requests for Next Generation sequencing work must be directed to the NZGL either via their website at http://www.nzgenomics.co.nz , or by contacting Jenny Shackelford, Project Manager, NZGL. Contact details are:
E-mail: jenny.skackelford@nzgenomics.co.nz
