Massey Commercialisation
Our goal is to create and transfer knowledge for the benefit of New Zealand. In doing so we will build relationships and generate revenue that will support the on-going research and education goals of the University.
Massey Commercialisation has the exclusive responsibility for commercialising intellectual property from research and discovery within the University. We work in partnership with the BioCommerce Centre in the Manawatu and the eCentre in Auckland to provide a critical mass of capability and networks across the spectrum of idea identification, evaluation, partnering, licencing, company formation and incubation, investment and portfolio management.
The overarching philosophy is to move knowledge and IP out of the University to the business community as quickly as possible to maximise the opportunity to create value for New Zealand.
The knowledge transfer process will be different in each situation but could include open source processes such as publication and presentation, specific contract research services, IP licencing or sale, joint ventures or creation of spin out companies.
Massey Ventures Ltd is a fully owned subsidiary of the University and is the holding company that holds equity in a range of companies that have been spun out of the University.
Massey Commercialisation also provides a point of entry to the University for companies wishing to access the skills, capability and technologies within the University.
Massey is an accredited partner in the Ministry of Science and Innovation Technology Transfer Voucher programme.
