BONUS+
What is BONUS+?
BONUS+ allows Massey University students and staff to borrow selected books from a number of Australian University Libraries. If the book you need is not held at any Massey University Library or all the Massey University Library copies are on loan you can easily request it online from another BONUS+ library. There is no charge for this service.
The libraries involved in the BONUS+ project are :

- University of Ballarat
- University of Melbourne
- Victoria University
- Deakin University
- Edith Cowan University
- La Trobe University
- Queensland University of Technology
- University of Wollongong
Who Can Use BONUS+?
BONUS+ is available to current students and staff of Massey University with the exception of overseas distance students. Retired staff members are also eligible to use this service.
How Does BONUS+ Work?
- Search the Massey University Library catalogue
Encore or Classic catalogue - If the book you require is not available, click on the BONUS+ icon (green logo) and the search is repeated in the BONUS+ catalogue
- Select "Request this item"
- Select "Massey University"
- Enter your details
- Choose your campus as a pick up location (Distance students please choose "Distance delivery")
- Click on "Submit"
Delivery time will be about 5 - 7 working days. Internal students will be notified by email to collect their requested items. Distance students will have items posted. Staff will have items posted in the internal mail.
If you get a message "Sorry, no copies available for requests" either all copies in BONUS+ are on loan and not due back within 14 days or there are two or more requests on all copies.
If you have opted in to Reading History in MyLibrary, BONUS+ items will not appear.
How Can I Cancel a BONUS+ Request?
If a BONUS+ items still has a REQUESTED status, you may cancel the request at any time by logging into your MyLibrary record.
What Are the BONUS+ Borrowing Rules?
The loan period for all borrowers is 21 days. An additional renewal of 21 days can be requested via your MyLibrary record. If other users are waiting for the item it will not be possible to renew.
- Undergraduate students can have up to 5 requests at any one time
- Postgraduates can have up to 10 requests at any one time
- Staff can have up to 10 requests at any one time
Fines and Overdues
Fines and penalties for all BONUS+ items are the same as fines and penalties for other items at Massey University.
Any BONUS+ item still overdue at 15 days will be charged at replacement cost.
A standard fee of NZ$160.00 will apply to all lost BONUS+ items.
What is Available from the BONUS+ Catalogue?
You can also search the BONUS+ shared catalogue which includes selected material from the participating libraries, but does not reflect the complete collection of any library. The shared catalogue contains over 6 million items. The BONUS+ catalogue is continuously updated to show the current availability of all items. Certain materials, such as course reserve and short term loan books are not included.
