Services for students studying from offshore

Massey University Library provides a specialist service to students studying from offshore.  This includes a combination of online resources, electronic delivery and, in some circumstances, postal delivery of physical items.  We are also here to help you with finding the information you need for your study.

Online Databases and Journal Articles

As an enrolled Massey University student you have access to a wide range of online resources including journal articles, ebooks and article databases through the Library.  If you need help with logging in, go to our Login Help page.

Many databases provide full text content, while others will provide an abstract and citation.  If the article you want is not available online, but we have it in print, we will scan it and send you a copy.  Make requests using the Journal Article Request Form.

For more information on finding journal articles and ebooks use our How do I find pages.

Books

In most cases electronic delivery of scanned contents pages and a chapter are offered as first preference, but books may be sent to students when both necessary and practically possible.  You need to be aware that you are responsible for the cost of airmail postage to return the item to us.  If you do not want us to send any books to you, please let us know.

We will send you books from our collection when:

  • they are not likely to be in high demand, and
  • there is no undue risk of damage or loss due to destination, and
  • the length of postal delivery time is not prohibitive to reasonable use.

Place requests by logging in to your MyLibrary record and searching the Library Catalogue  View a demonstration.

It is also advisable to check if an ebook is available - more information.

Book Chapters and Copies

Rather than requesting a whole book, we can send you the contents pages for you to select from.  We will copy what is allowed under copyright law ("a reasonable proportion" and this is usually one chapter of any book) and send you the material electronically.

Use the online form or send us an email to place requests for either the Table of Contents or a specific chapter.
