Buildings
Various building-related tasks are carried out by Facilities Management Manawatu (FM).
Maintenance
The team at FM is responsible for maintenance tasks around the University. These include organising the cleaning staff, other contractors, key cutting, and the Building Management System.
Relocation
If you are shifting rooms, buildings or even just relocating across the office, you may need to use FM's relocation service.
Timetable Management
Timetable Management is handled by the Facility Central Management Information System (FCMIS).
Building Security
All staff and students have a responsibility towards the security of University property. Buildings are secured on weekends, holidays and by 6.30pm on workdays. Students who are required to work after hours must either have a staff member present or, if authorised by the department to work unsupervised, be capable of securing all windows and doors when vacating the building. Students found in buildings after hours, who are unable to produce an ID card, or have no method of securing the building, will be required to vacate the premises.
Building access/egress. Some buildings have electronic card systems installed for access/egress. Normally the system will only be activated after hours and on weekends. Generally, access cards are not issued to students unless special authority is obtained. Keys and cards are not to be copied, cut or borrowed. Many buildings, for which after hours entry is unauthorised, have detector alarms installed.
