Proud to be Smoke Free

Massey University is committed to providing a healthy environment for those in the University community; everyone who works, studies, visits, or has business on campus. As part of this commitment, the University will be fully smoke-free by the end of 2017.  This decision is influenced by the weight of evidence, which is profoundly in support of smoke-free environments.

As from 9 January 2017 smoking will not be allowed anywhere on the Wellington Campus grounds including in private vehicles.

All staff, students, visitors and contractors are expected to abide by Massey University’s smoke-free policy.

Following advice from the Ministry of Health, smoking e-cigarettes or vaping will not be allowed on campus grounds.

Help is available to those who wish to quit smoking through Quitline or the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP). Students may also seek assistance at the campus health and counseling centres.

All staff on campus will be encouraged to remind colleagues, students and visitors seen smoking on Campus to leave the property.  Any persistent problems can be raised with security staff.
