How to use MySpam

MySpam is a tool used by Information Technology Services as a security measure against spam and viruses. MySpam can block email addresses or domains.

Block an email address or domain

Note: An email address is made of address@domain
  1. Go to
  2. Click on Manage Senders

  3. Type the email address, (or domain) in the box (as shown below)
  4. Make sure the button is in Block this Sender
  5. Click Add

MySpam How to

Add an email address or domain to your safe list

  • Go to
  • Click on Manage Senders
  • Type the email address, (or domain) in the box (as shown below)
  • Make sure the button is in Allow this Sender
  • Click Add

Remove an email address or domain from your block list

  • Go to
  • Click on Manage Senders
  • Under the Blocked Senders section, click the rubbish can

  • You will be prompted "Are you sure you want to delete this sender" Click OK

Send attachments MySpam usually quarantines

Sometimes MySpam stops email or will not allow you to send certain attachment types that may be dangerous. Sometimes it is necessary for your work to send these file types.
  1. Remove the extension of your attachment. (example: file.exe - file)
  2. Attach the file (with extension removed) to your email.
  3. Write in your email for the person at the other end to rename your file to the correct extension. (example: file - file.exe)
Note: By renaming the file extension, the file cannot be run by clicking it. The file name needs to be renamed to run. ITS are looking into an internal email filtering system and associated file transfer service at which point these steps will no longer be required.
