Having trouble connecting?

Massey staff can contact the ITS Service Desk for assistance on Massey-owned devices. Students and staff with private equipment can visit the Computer Zone / Wāhi Rorohiko in the Library. 

The guest wireless network, MUGuest, is a best effort network and therefore, limited support is offered.

iOS

Issue: Proxy authentication details are not stored — MUStaff WiFi

  Users of Apple's iOS 7.0 and iOS 7.1 operating system (OS) for Apple iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch; are reporting issues of proxy authentication details being lost - this causes the device to constantly prompt to re-enter credentials when browsing the internet.

Apple have current forums opened on the issue:
Workaround:
The workaround is to use the manual proxy settings below, entering your Massey network credentials in the Username and Password fields.

To do this:
  • Open Settings, Wi-Fi.
  • Tap the (i) next to the network you are connected to then enter the proxy settings below

    Albany:
    Server alb-cache.massey.ac.nz
    Port : 8080

    Manawatu:
    Server : tur-cache.massey.ac.nz
    Port : 8080

    Wellington:
    Server  : wel-cache.massey.ac.nz
    Port : 8080

  • Turn Authentication on and enter your Massey credentials
  • Tap Wi-Fi to save your changes. The wireless network will disconnect and then re-connect using the updated settings

Android

Windows

Issue: Cannot connect to external websites using Windows Phone — MUStaff WiFi

 Users of Windows Phone 8.0 and 8.1 operating system (OS) are reporting issues not being able to connect to any external website while connected to the Massey network. However, users can connect successfully to internal Massey websites.


There are current forums opened on the issue. The problem is not isolated to Massey.
Workaround:

Currently there is no workaround.

Solution:

No solution has currently been provided, but Microsoft is aware of the issue and stated it will be fixed in version 8.2

Mac
