Create an Apple ID

Learn what to do if you don't want to associate a payment method with your iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store accounts.

When you use your Apple ID to sign in to the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store for the first time, you're asked to enter a payment method so that you can purchase items from the store.

Follow these steps if you don't want to associate a payment method with your account

  • Open the App Store
  • If you are given a special offer (download all these Apps now) decline it
  • In the search field at the top right type Find My iPhone (or search for any other free App) and tap the Search icon
  • Tap Get then Install, when viewing the Find My iPhone App to start the Apple ID creation process

  • Tap Create New Apple ID
  • Select New Zealand tap Next
  • Scroll to the bottom of the New Account - Terms and Conditions to tap Agree
  • Tap Agree again
  • Fill in your details, use your Massey email address (Student) or (Staff) and tap Next
  • For billing information, select None

  • Fill in a Billing address:
  • Tap Next
  • Log in with your new Apple ID if prompted
  • The App will install
  • Remember to verify your Apple ID. You can access your Massey email by logging into then using the webmail link
