As a manager, you play a critical role in supporting your new team member to achieve their best. The experience your new person has over the first few days, weeks and months will impact their ability to contribute to your team, and how long they’ll stay with Massey.
The objective of induction is that your new team member fully understands the objectives of the University and the department, the University’s policies and the key performance indicators of their position and that you are in touch with their development and support needs.
The induction guidelines and related materials will help you support your team members' transition to their new role here at Massey. These workbooks set out a 3 month process, which concludes with a conversation between you and your new team member on issues that are important to your ongoing mutual success.
The importance of an effective induction applies not only to those that we are welcoming to the University for the first time, but equally where an individual has previous experience of working with us. Therefore, please ensure that all new team members, are provided with an induction experience that allows them to effectively settle into their job and environment.
A copy of the Manager Guideline for Staff Induction is sent to the hiring manager from HR Services when the acceptance of the offer of employment is acknowledged. If this has not arrived, please download this electronic copy.
A copy of the Induction Workbook for New Staff is sent to your new team member from HR Services when their acceptance of the offer of employment is acknowledged. If your new team member does not have a copy, please download this electronic copy.
The following forms are to be completed on your team members first day, to enable salary payments to commence. Please return completed forms to HR Services, PN 202.
