Proof of identity is required for all prospective appointees prior to the commencement of employment.
The preferred applicant must provide clear, legible and verified copies of their proof of identity e.g. a birth certificate, passport or New Zealand Drivers Licence. A verified copy means one that is confirmed by a Justice of the Peace, Lawyer, Notary Public, a Massey University People and Organisational Development staff member or a hiring manager as a true and accurate copy of the original and means that the original document has been sighted by the person providing the verification assurance.
In order to move quickly to the offer of employment, the Chair of the Selection Committee should ask the applicant to bring to the interview their proof of Identity (e.g. Passport, Birth Certificate, NZ Driver’s Licence). This documentation will then be copied and certified. The certified proof of identity of the preferred applicants should then be included in the appointment summary information that is provided to the HoI/S and PVC/AVC for approval. Note this includes trade and professional body qualifications relevant to position.
All verified copies of the original proof of identity need to be provided to People and Organisational Development prior to the commencement of employment (if not already provided at the time of the interview).
