The health and safety office provides coordination for the University on health and safety systems, training, workers’ compensation and rehabilitation.
Health and safety systems include; policy, management responsibility, information on achieving the occupational prescribed requirements, and injury or illness risk issues associated with research and teaching. Technical guidance on hazard management, hazard evaluation, and safety compliance issues associated with the environment and physical facilities is also available.
Assistance with workers’ compensation and rehabilitation of injured staff are essential functions, both provided by the ACC and Rehabilitation Administrator. This role is linked with the Human Resources Section and Finance Operations who assist with administrative requirements.
Oversight of health and safety is provided by the Assistant Vice-Chancellor (People & Organisational Development).
