Assessment Strategy, Principles and Guidelines

The University’s Assessment Strategy, Principles and Guidelines provides a three-tiered approach to assessment policy and procedures comprising an assessment strategy applied at University Level, principles of assessment that relate to qualifications and/or specialisations, and question-based guidelines that can be used by lecturers and paper coordinators for self- and peer-review of their assessment design.

This document replaces the Assessment Policy and the Assessment Procedures documents.

Award of Alternative Qualification Procedures

Equity of Access to Educational Opportunities Policy

The purpose of this policy is to state Massey University’s commitment to attracting and supporting students from diverse social, economic and cultural backgrounds by providing additional assistance to groups in the community who are under-represented in the University or who are disadvantaged in terms of their ability to attend University.

Equivalence Policy

Ensures that all offerings of the same paper in a given academic year are equivalent so that the coherence of Massey University qualifications is maintained, and no individual student or group of students is advantaged or disadvantaged as a result of their study mode or location during the year.

Graduating Year Review Procedures

Graduating Year Review (GYR) is the name of the moderation process directed by the Committee for University Academic Programmes (CUAP).  All New Zealand universities are required to conduct a formal review of new qualifications generally within three years of the first cohort of students graduating. These Procedures outline the process to follow to conduct a GYR in order to meet CUAP requirements.

The Qualifications Policy sets out the overall requirements for the design, approval, implementation, delivery, and review of qualifications at Massey University. The Qualifications Framework sets out how Massey University will incorporate the principles outlined in the Qualifications Policy into deliverable qualifications.
