The Richard Buchanan Teaching Excellence Award aims to encourage College of Business staff to value their teaching and raise the profile of teaching. The Pro Vice Chancellor will grant $5000 for the award. To be eligible for nomination, College of Business teaching staff need to meet the criterion that they have practised and developed their teaching skills, over a minimum period of three years at Massey University. Applications for the award will be by teaching portfolio. Portfolios must be submitted to the Director of Teaching and Learning, Office of the Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor.
The winner of the award (plus other suitable nominees) will be encouraged to submit their portfolio for the Massey University Vice-Chancellor's Teaching Awards. The Richard Buchanan Teaching Excellence Award encourages teachers to start preparing a teaching portfolio which may not be as detailed or as long as would be expected for the Vice-Chancellor's Teaching Awards.
The deadline for submission of applications is 5pm, 2 December 2016.
Teaching staff wishing to be considered for the award are required to prepare and submit a portfolio that demonstrates the ways in which the award criteria have been met. Four copies of the portfolio must be submitted. Applications should be submitted to the Massey Business School Director for Teaching and Learning.

Nominees will be provided with advice in the preparation of teaching portfolios and can attend workshops on portfolio preparation. Support can also be sought from past award winners.
It is anticipated that the portfolios selected for the Vice-Chancellor's Teaching Awards may require further work before they are submitted.

Portfolios should be approximately 6000 words including student and peer evaluations, references, and appendices.
