The Grants Framework provides a pathway enabling staff to build on successes by encouraging and promoting teaching and learning initiatives at increasingly higher levels (as indicated on the pyramid). The Framework is based on the premise that the scholarship of teaching and learning is a multi-dimensional and collaborative activity. The Framework is inclusive of a range of activities and approaches that support better outcomes for learners as a consequence of research and teaching initiatives designed to enhance student learning outcomes. For this reason the Framework begins with the provision for Teaching and Innovation Grants to be made by Colleges or within disciplines or service units based on locally developed criteria. The Framework consists of four levels as shown in the Grants Pyramid (Figure 1).
