Study facilities

Wellington Library

We have print and online resources for all subjects taught on campus, especially art and design, music, nursing and communication. Talk to our specialist staff if you have any questions. Use the Library’s study spaces, computers, printing and photocopying facilities.

You can also apply to exhibit your research or designs in Te Pikitanga exhibition space. Disabled students have accessible access and toilets. Students with children can use the parents’ room on Level A.

Centre for Learner Success

Come and see us for academic help and study support. We work with undergraduates and postgraduates to improve their writing, study and maths skills. We run workshops, classes and personal consultations, and our academic student mentors can give you advice and support.

Computers and wifi

Use the student computers at the Library. Library and IT support staff can help you if you have any questions or problems.

You can go to the computer labs when they’re not being used for teaching. Computer labs have both PC and Mac computers. Only students in certain subjects can use some computer labs.

Wifi

On all Massey campuses, use your student ID and password to log into MasseyWiFi. Once you're logged in, you can use the internet and get on to the Massey network.

Guests and visitors to Massey can use the MUGuests wifi. This is an open, public network with a data limit of 600MB a day.

Campus Information Service – Mōhiohio

Our Campus Information teams can provide you with guidance and support you along your journey with the University. Our friendly on-campus teams are knowledgeable, experienced and dedicated to helping you. Some of the services we offer are:

Art facilities

Use the world-class facilities at our College of Creative Arts to develop your skills and master new techniques. We have a metal workshop and a darkroom, as well as studios for Fine Arts, printing, photography and more.

Design facilities

Experiment and create in our lighting studio, 3D workshop, industrial design workshop, and textile and fashion studios. There’s also Fab Lab, where you can use laser cutters, a CNC machine, 3D printers, vinyl cutters and more.

Sound and film production facilities

Our facilities for sound and film production are among the best in Australasia. Use recording studios, dubbing and mixing suites, music rehearsal rooms, colour grading suites, a motion capture suite, a green screen and film studio and more. Borrow high-tech equipment for your projects.

Nursing facilities

Get prepared for clinical practice in our state-of-the-art nursing simulation suite – it’s got a mock hospital setting, two-way observation space, and standard nursing equipment for hospital and community work. Practise key skills through role-play, case studies and simulations.

Health science facilities

There are wet lab facilities on campus, as well as research labs and a transitional facility to support goods that may pose a biosecurity risk. We use our sound lab for experiential and research work into the effects of sound and acoustics on human health.

Te Rau Karamu Marae

Te Rau Karamu Marae sits at the heart of the Pukeahu campus. The marae, which can host manuhiri (guests) overnight, is used for teaching and learning with Kaupapa Māori at the fore. Its outdoor learning space is filled with native species.

Pacific fale

Fale Bilong Lumi is a dedicated community space where Pacific students can study, meet, relax and connect with our staff. It has a lounge and kitchen, and a quiet study space with computers to use. Whether you're studying on campus or by distance, you're welcome to use this space.

Sport and recreation centre, and gym

Start on a week’s free trial, then join up to 20 weekly classes or do your own thing in our fully equipped state-of-the-art gym. Massey University Recreation Centre Wellington is open to students and the local community. Membership includes yoga and group training classes at the gym.

There is a sick bay with a first aid kit in Block 9, Student Centre, level 3, inside Student Health and Counselling.

Find automated external defibrillators (AEDs) on campus:

  • at the gym
  • in Block 3, level C, room 26
  • in Block 5, ground floor, at the Operations Help Desk
  • in Student Health and Counselling
  • at the Library, ground floor, near service point
  • in Block 11, in the foyer by the lift.

For non-emergency health care, you can enrol with your campus health centre or speak to them if you want to see them casually.
