Our role is to give overall leadership to the Fergusson Hall community. This involves working with the Residential Assistants to make Fergusson Hall an outstanding Hall of Residence. As a leadership team we achieve this by ensuring Fergusson Hall is a safe place to live with the facilities you need, fostering an exciting community with a variety of fun events throughout the year, encouraging academic excellence through attractive spaces to study, computer facilities and academic support programmes, and providing care and support when it is needed from the practical to the personal.
Our Residential Assistants (RAs) are your first port of call if you need help in the Hall. They are senior student leaders with a willingness to serve others and work hard to make Fergusson Hall an awesome hall of residence. You can see them for various practical and personal needs, whether it be opening your room when you leave your keys inside or needing someone to talk to. If they are unable to help you directly they will know where you can get the help you need.
Fergusson Hall is owned by the Presbyterian Educational Purposes Trust. The Trust appoints the Head of Hall who, together with the three Residential Assistants, works to create a positive living environment for residents. The Presbyterian Educational Purposes Trust Board comprises professionals in the community who offer their time and expertise to guide the Hall, particularly in financial matters. A student representative sits on the board to offer a resident's perspective.
Peter is responsible for looking after the Hall's accounts. You will receive financial statements from Peter regarding your rent payments throughout the year. He works 16 hours per week in the office. Feel free to see him about your accounts if you have any queries.
Bronwyn keeps Fergusson Hall clean for us all. She cleans all common areas and bathrooms during the week as well as providing a friendly face around the Hall. A part-time cleaner cleans bathrooms once on the weekend and ensures that the consumables are topped up.
Stu works ten hours per week and takes care of maintenance needs around the Hall. If you see something that needs repairing in your room or around the Hall, you can let us know using the maintenance forms outside the office. Stu is also skilled at repairing computers and does a great job at maintaining our IT systems. You are welcome to ask for his help with any computer problems that you may have.
