Organise a Reference (Domestic Students ONLY)

Most students apply for a place in the halls while still at school. In this case, let your school know you will be applying for Massey University, Wellington Campus. Please click here to submit your details to your school and they will then submit a reference to us. If your reference is sent to us after 1 October, you may miss out on an offer in the first round.

If you are not in school, a landlord or employer can provide us with a reference. Make sure to give them our email address so they may email us directly: accommodation.wellington@massey.ac.nz

Apply Online via Accommodation Gateway

Applications open on August 1st 2018 and close on October 1st 2018 for the first three rounds of offers. Your application must be completed by Oct 1st, which means your CCRF must be received and your full application submitted to us by this date. All applications completed after October 1st will be eligible for offers as vacancies come up.

Tips

  • You will need an email address to apply – make sure you choose an address that you can easily access and that will be active in the following year. Do not use a school email address.
  • Provide us with accurate information about yourself. Carefully consider your answers to questions and provide us with detailed responses. This information will be used to select students who can build a strong community within our halls, and helps us to place you with suitable room/flatmates. Make sure to include any medical or welfare information. The more you tell us about your habits, routine and lifestyle, the better we can match you with other applicants.

Receive an Offer

Your offer will be emailed to you on one of the offer dates outlined below. If we are unable to provide you with an offer in the first round, your application will be waitlisted.

Who gets an Offer?

Both of our halls are open to first and second year Massey University students. Generally, the halls are suitable for students who are aged 17 to 24, have demonstrated a high level of contribution to their school and community and can provide good references.

We work to build a diverse and strong community within our halls, by taking into consideration gender balance, cultural diversity, personal interests and study programmes. It is important to provide as much information as possible in your application, by listing any community involvement, leadership roles, sporting, cultural and musical abilities. You can also record any acknowledgement you have received from your school or community; like volunteer recognition, prizes or scholarships you have been awarded.
