Staff information

The 2012 Auckland Graduation Ceremonies will be held 17-20 April 2012 at the Bruce Mason Centre (BMC), Takapuna.

All Academic and general staff are invited to attend the graduation ceremonies and participate in the processions. A strong staff presence helps to ensure the success of these events and your participation is appreciated. In order to facilitate audience and on-stage seating arrangements, please complete the web based applicationform by 5.00pm Friday the 13th April 2012.

Academic regalia

All staff sitting on stage must maintain a high standard of dress, and must wear academic regalia. Casual attire (i.e. jeans, jandals, etc) is not appropriate.

Academic regalia can be hired from the New Zealand Federation of Graduate Women (NZFGW).

Please download the application form below and send it to NZFGW at the address supplied on the application.

The closing date for orders is the 1 March 2012.

Please ensure you order your regalia before this date. Payment instructions are at the bottom of the order form. If your department meets the cost of your regalia, please see your Financial Administrator.

Processional arrival/departure times

The procession will leave from the War Memorial Hall (WMH) The Strand, Takapuna (behind Caffe Massemo, to the right of the library entrance) to the Bruce Mason Centre.

Procession cancellation

In the case of rain the procession will be cancelled. Cancellation notices will be aired on Newstalk ZB (89.4 FM or 1080 AM). Cancellation notices are broadcast 7am and 8am, and 11am and 12 noon, after the weather forecast announcements. Meeting times at the Bruce Mason Centre will then be 9:45 am for the morning ceremonies and 1:45pm for the afternoon ceremonies.

Audience seating/staff on-stage registrations

Tickets for audience seating will be sent to those who request them by Events Management. Wherever possible, your audience seating needs will be attempted to be met. There may be limitations due to the overall seating demand for each individual ceremony.

Security and belongings

Massey Security will offer a retrieval system for staff for personal belongings to be transported from the War Memorial Hall to the Bruce Mason Centre. If you choose this option, you will be issued a numbered ticket and can reclaim your belongings at the Bruce Mason Centre from the Staff 'Green Room' which is located at the end of the corridor past the toilets. This room is secure and a staff member is stationed there at all times. Please knock on the door to get access as it will be locked.

Please do not leave any of your belongings at the War Memorial Hall as it will be locked soon after the processions leave which will be shortly after 9:45am and 1:45pm respectively. The Bruce Mason Centre will also be closing soon after the end of the afternoon ceremony at approximately 5:00pm. Staff are asked to collect their belongings from the Information Desk as soon as each ceremony concludes.

Parking

You may park your car at either the War Memorial Hall end or the Bruce Mason Centre end. Allow yourself time to walk from the Bruce Mason Centre to the War Memorial Hall if you choose to park down there. It will take approximately 10-15 minutes to walk the distance.

Refreshments and a light snack will be provided for morning ceremonies only.
