Academic dress
Due to the importance of the occasion participants should be suitably dressed. Participants will not receive awards unless appropriately dressed. A tidy standard of dress is expected along with applicable academic dress. The final decision on whether dress is appropriate will rest with the University Marshal or the Deputy Marshal.
Māori cloak/Korowai and Pacific cloaks may be worn with academic regalia. It must be worn over the gown and under the hood. International students may prefer to wear their national dress with the academic regalia.
It is recommended that graduands carry two large safety pins to secure their hood.
