Smart Running is a series of training sessions organised by Massey University Sport and Recreation Centre in conjunction with Will O'Connor, Massey University PhD Student and endurance athlete.
The sessions are designed for intermediate to advanced runners including those with an interest in endurance and trail running. Each session will cover speed, strength, trail and pacing/perception of effort and will evolve with participates as they move through the four sessions.
Cost per session is $25 per person. They will take place on:
Wednesday 31st May 6.30pm-7.30pm
Wednesday 7th Jun 6.30pm-7.30pm
Wednesday 14th June 6.30pm-7.30pm
Wednesday 21st June 6.30pm-7.30pm
Will is in the final stages of completing his PhD in Sport Science. His PhD title “Metabolic Flexibility and Endurance Exercise” centres around applying different nutritional strategies to optimise physical performance.
Along with undertaking his PhD research Will also works with several elite athletes and has collaborated with the TriNZ high performance program as well as the Massey University Academy of Sport.
Will competes in numerous events himself and often places in the top echelons of endurance sport in New Zealand including a recent win at the 2017 Buller Marathon.
