Manawatu Chaplaincy and Religious Services

Who are we?

We are a Christian team from a cross section of churches offering spiritual support to students and staff on the Massey campus. We work with the goodwill of, and in conjunction with, local churches and University management.

What do we do?

A whole range of things! These go from offering support and guidance in issues of life and faith, providing links to local churches and Christian groups on campus, right through to laying on movie nights, weekly free pancake nights, a Wednesday morning communion service and a Sunday evening faith exploration forum. A leaflet fully outlining all we offer is available from ‘The Centre’. (See ‘Where are we?’ below.)

Why are we here?

As Christians we believe we make the most of life by having God at its centre. Thus, we are here both to encourage Christians in their faith and provide appropriate pastoral support to the University community as a whole. We try, as best we can, to embody in helpful ways the welcome, accessibility and relevance of Jesus Christ, in every area of life, to all members of the Massey community.

Where are we?

We are based at the heart of the campus in ‘The Centre’ opposite the bus terminus at the bottom of Colombo Rd. There for everyone to use, ‘The Centre’ is one of Massey’s newest social spaces. Open 9am-5pm Monday-Friday, it has a cafe style foyer and a more relaxed feel in the lounge. It is available all day for people to hang out in, have lunch, make themselves a drink or whatever. As part of the Massey WiFi system it is also a great place to work. ‘The Centre’ is the venue for most of the activities listed above.
