Making an Appointment

Appointment Times

  • Medical appointments are normally at 15 minute intervals. If you think you will require more time than this, eg, for an insurance medical, please advise the receptionist. Longer appointments will usually incur an extra fee.
  • We make every effort to run to time but on occasions unexpected emergencies or a consultation running over time may cause delays.
  • On your first visit to the Health & Counselling Centre, please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment. This allows you enough time to complete our health information form and our Counselling Intake Assessment form, if it is your first session. 
  • Counselling appointments are usually up to 60 minutes.

Urgent Appointments

  • Urgent matters and emergencies are dealt with at any time.
  • We will always see you 'today' if you indicate this is necessary. The receptionists are limited in how much they can ask you in the public reception area, so please help the receptionists to help you by giving them an indication of how urgent your need is. If the doctor is fully booked you will be offered a consultation with the nurse and you may be asked to return at another time.

Cancellations

  • Please let us know if you no longer require your appointment, so we can offer that time to another student. Failure to give us less than 2 hours notice will incur a DNA (Did Not Attend) $10 charge.

Parking

  • Health and Counselling parking is available beside Te Ohanga Student Accommodation Village via Gate 1. From there you can walk along the ramp into Student Central.
