Career and Employment Service – helping Massey graduates

Introduction

Massey graduates are welcome!  You can access all of our services free of charge, although we must stress that these are primarily targeted at potential and current Massey students and at recent Massey graduates.

No matter what stage you are at in your career planning and thinking we can help.  Typically, we assist individuals with the following:

Advice on how to choose a career

Information on finding work in NZ and overseas

Applying for work  - CV and interview advice

Generating subject-relevant career options

Exploring further study

Researching roles and employers

Queries on the labour market

Advice on the skills employers/roles require

Are you looking for work or for career events you could attend?

As a graduate of Massey University you have life-long access to job vacancies and career events through the MasseyCareerHub portal.  Simply complete the registration form by following the alumni link under the login box on http://careerhub.massey.ac.nz  or if you have previously registered request a change of status by emailing pncareers@massey.ac.nz

MasseyCareerHub is more than a jobs board for graduate vacancies.  Increasingly we are seeing roles being added under the umbrella of GRAD+ where employers are seeking applicants with a university qualification plus work experience.  Furthermore, we use the portal to publicise career-related events on Massey’s campuses that all are welcome to attend.  You’ll also find news articles and career related links there.

So whether you are looking for a change in career or returning from overseas, be sure to log-in regularly and check out what is currently on the site – you never know what you may find.

Are you keen to access help with career issues? Meet the Career and Employment Service team

We have a careers adviser on each of Massey’s campuses and one who works in particular with Massey’s distance students.  Any of this team can help you on a face-to-face basis; by telephone or by email.  We can also arrange a video call to you via Skype.  You can find out more about the services we offer, and details of how to contact us here.

Are you recruiting?

Looking for a graduate or a student employee?  It couldn’t be easier!  Employers now have access to a ‘one-stop shop’ through which they can advertise jobs to students and graduates from seven NZ universities.

This web portal – NZUniCareerHub – is hosted by the University Career Advisers of New Zealand (UCANZ) and is an example of our collaborative work to make student and graduate recruitment easier and more cost-effective for employers.  You can find out more here.  Alternatively, contact the site’s administrator on 0800 698 644 or by email at:  info@nzunicareerhub.ac.nz

Can you help us?

We are always keen to hear from employers and Massey alumni willing to help in our work with Massey students and graduates.  This could include assisting with talks on particular career areas; providing us with profiles on the work that you do for display in our resource areas and on this website and contributing to other initiatives that we host.

To explore how you can help please contact one of the Career and Employment Service's staff.

In addition, the Alumni and Friends section invites you to maintain and strengthen your relationship with the Massey community by participating in social events and becoming involved in chapter activities. Its Chapters in New Zealand and overseas provide a means of communication between the University and its alumni and friends to create an environment of opportunity and support. You can find out more by following here.
