Massey University Step Up Programme

The Step Up Programme at Massey University provides you with the opportunity to gain formal recognition for your involvement in a range of extra curricular activities while helping you to practice and enhance your career & life skills through participation in workshops, seminars, community volunteering and other activities on campus and within the community. The programme is open to all students studying at the Massey Manawatu Campus.

Programme outline

In order to qualify for an award under this programme, participants must:

Participate in both on-campus and off campus activities (100 hours)

  • A minimum of 24 hours in one on-campus organisational involvement
  • A minimum of 12 hours in one off-campus organisational involvement
  • A minimum of 12 hours in a second on or off-campus organisational involvement

Attend a series of skills development workshops and seminars (15)

  • Seven compulsory workshops
  • Three compulsory seminars

Undertake on-going self reflection

  • Participate in reflective activities to determine your reflective style
  • Submit a piece of reflective writing at the end of each semester

The full programme is intended to be completed over the course of two years; however, you can choose to complete this programme over one year at the 'Participation' level - 50 hours of activities and seven workshops and seminars.
