Craig teaches leadership, change and management knowledge courses for Massey University’s College of Business in Aotearoa New Zealand. He is particularly interested in using web meeting environments (e.g. Adobe Connect) for teaching and research (see Sam Warren's review of a recent online seminar published in Management Learning). In 2010 he was awarded one of five Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Teaching Excellence (the Darrylin O'Dea Award in the field of e-Learning) . He wrote his PhD at the University of Nottingham (UK) and his research and service work contributes to the development of critical studies of management. He is the immediate past-chair of the Critical Management Studies Division of the Academy of Management. He served as an associate editor with the journals Management Learning (2008-2011) and Organization (2008-present) and will be Editor-in-Chief of Organization from 2013-2017. He was the principle organizer of the 2011 APROS Conference (Asia Pacific Researchers in Organization Studies) held on the AUT's central Auckland Campus from November 28-Dec 1 2011. He has been the coordinator (with Deborah Jones) of New Zealand's OIL (organization, identify and locality) research network:[O I L :ORGANIZATION, IDENTITY, LOCALITY].

In 2011 the impromptu singing group he led, 'The Kupenga-ettes', won the prize for best version of the Massey's Waiata 'Te Kuenga Ki Purehuroa' during Maori Language month.
