My primary research area is mobile business; secondary research interests focus on the innovative use of information and communications technologies (ICT) to manage Information Age organisations, especially Enterprise 2.0, which includes social media. In the School of Management: (a) I teach postgraduate papers in Mobile Business and Information Systems Management; (b) I teach Management Information Systems, the Information Systems core paper in the BBS degree; (c) I supervise a number of research students; and (d) I am discipline leader for the Business Information Systems group. In Massey University's MBA programme I teach IT and E-Commerce and supervise a small number of MBA research projects. I lead the Mobile Business team in the Centre for Mobile Computing. During July-December 2011 I am on sabbatical leave at Union Graduate College in Schenectady, New York.

Initially my research focus was on e-business strategy, but most publications reflect (a) my emerging interest in mobile business and (b) supervision of doctoral research in enterprise systems. Teaching duties were principally focused on postgraduate education and mentoring, including research methods, research project coordination and supervision, New Zealand's first postgraduate paper in mobile business and postgraduate and undergraduate courses in e-business. For a number of years I was Coordinator of Postgraduate Studies for the Institute and Postgraduate Advisor for the Information Systems group. Visiting appointments were undertaken at the University of Missouri (July-Dec 2001), the City University of Hong Kong (Jan-June 2002), the University of Arizona (Aug-Dec 2003) and San Francisco State University (July-Aug 2007).
