1993 data from Conviction and Sentencing of Offenders in New Zealand: 1984 to 1993, Department of Justice, New Zealand, November 1994, page 38.

1996 data from Conviction and Sentencing of Offenders in New Zealand: 1987 to 1996, Department of Justice, New Zealand, November 1997, page 45.

Note:

  1. There will have been an increase in male convictions as a result of the police campaign against domestic violence (see here) and possibly the Domestic Violence Act 1995.
  2. While female convictions are far fewer than male, they increased more rapidly over the period.
