New Frontiers in Restorative Justice

[ Call for Papers | Presentation formats | Presentation Proposals ]

Call for Papers

Papers are now sought for presentation at New Frontiers in Restorative Justice. Where possible, they should contribute discussion on the conference themes. In addition to papers, delegates are also invited to contribute television documentaries, art works, and musical contributions. Simply fill in the Paper Proposal form and push the Submit button.

An edited, refereed text will be published with an international publisher from the papers contributed to the conference. Papers will be accepted for consideration for that text up until 6 weeks following the conference (mid January 2005). Such papers should not exceed 7000 words.

Submission deadlines

An 'initial round' for submissions has now finished. That initial round has as allowed us to see what the likely contours will be of delegates' presentations. Proposals for further papers will continue to be considered up until the 5th November, so you are still able to put your newest ideas up for discussion! Abstracts of accepted papers are posted in the Sessions area of this website. Take a look at that page, as the proposed papers cover fascinating topics.

Presentation formats

Proposals are currently invited for 30 minute papers, 90 minute Shared Sessions, Poster Presentations, the screening of documentaries produced by participants, the presentation of art works, and musical performances. Presenters may choose to submit papers for consideration in the edited text at any time before the conference, and up to six weeks following the conference.

3O minute Paper

The '30 minute paper' comprises a 20 minute speaker presentation followed by 10 minutes of questions from the audience. Papers on similar topics will be collated into sessions that will be overseen by a chairperson. Proposals for 30 minute papers can be forwarded either through the Proposals section of this website, through a standard email letter that includes the sections contained in the Proposals form, or in a letter to the conference review committee, again containing the same information.

90 minute Shared Sessions

The '90 minute Shared Session' comprises a session involving at least five registered participants (for instance, a chair plus four or more presenters who speak for no more than 15 minutes each). At least 15 minutes must be left for audience interaction. Proposals for 90 minute Shared Sessions can be forwarded either through the Proposals section of this website, through a standard email letter that includes the sections contained in the Proposals form, or in a letter to the conference review committee, again containing the same information.

Poster Presentations

Posters can be submitted for presentation at the conference. Presenters of posters would make themselves generally available during the conference to field questions from other delegates regarding their presentation. Proposals for Posters can be forwarded either through the Proposals section of this website, through a standard email letter that includes the sections contained in the Proposals form, or in a letter to the conference review committee, again containing the same information.

Documentaries

Documentaries will be screened in a dedicated room at various times during the conference. The producers of the documentaries can attend the screening(s) of their works (or selected portions of their work) to discuss the productions with the audience. Proposals for the screening of a documentary can be forwarded either through the Proposals section of this website, through a standard email letter that includes the sections contained in the Proposals form, or in a letter to the conference review committee, again containing the same information.

Art Works

Works of art will be installed in the conference venue. The artists may like to make themselves available for discussion with interested delegates. Proposals for the showing of art work can be forwarded either through the Proposals section of this website, through a standard email letter that includes the sections contained in the Proposals form, or in a letter to the conference review committee, again containing the same information.

Musical performances

Provision will be made (where possible) for delegates to present musical items. These will be performed during the afternoon and morning tea breaks, and at meal times. Proposals for the presentation of a musical performance can be forwarded either through the Proposals section of this website, through a standard email letter that includes the sections contained in the Proposals form, or in a letter to the conference review committee, again containing the same information.
