INTRODUCTION

With any luck (and a lot of hard work on your behalf) this will be your last year of undergraduate study. To help you learn all you will need this year, there are another set of tutorials for you to work through. If you have not used these tutorials or the program RasMol in previous years, then I suggest you visit the instructions page before you go on. If you know what you are doing and are confident wit h the format of the previous years tutorials, then carry on. There are a few sections to this years work...

DNA STRUCTURE & VARIATIONS

So far you have encountered one particular type of DNA-structure. In this set of tutorials, you will learn about how flexible the DNA chain is, different forms of the molecules which make DNA, and different models of DNA. It would make the most sense to you if you go through these tutorials in the order they are below.

Standard DNA Model
Variations of Structure

  DNA INTERACTIONS

This section involves the interactions which occur between DNA and both Drugs and Proteins. There are specific examples of the interactions between Proteins and DNA that are to be worked through. Also, the interactions between the strands of DNA are rev ised, with the melting and reannealing processes involved.
