Venture Trust

Massey University and particularly The Centre for Applied Economics and Policy Studies have benefited from grants from the Venture Trust in support of its research activities, predominately so far in fields of New Zealand's agricultural policy and strategies, New Zealand's agricultural trade and overseas markets and agricultural resource use and management in New Zealand. The Trust is also interested in facilitating the international exchange of scholars in the context of agricultural policy studies.

As from 2006, grants may be made in up to five new Programmes. Funding may also be approved for other purposes that the Trustees may deem appropriate.

Applications for funding are submitted for consideration at the Venture Trust's Annual Meeting, which is held at Massey University in March each year.

Applicants should bear in mind that the objectives of the Trust relate to:

(a) NZ agricultural sciences
(b) NZ agricultural long term policy planning
(c) NZ agricultural short term policy planning
(d) NZ agricultural trade and agricultural markets
(e) NZ agricultural strategy studies
(f) NZ agricultural food technology
(g) NZ agricultural production and development
(h) NZ agricultural economics and farm management

(i) NZ agricultural land use and management

(j) Sustainability and climate change

where  "agriculture" may be broadly interpreted to include any rural land productive activity including forestry and horticulture.

Application forms are available here. Further information on the Application process may be obtained from The Secretary, CAPS.

The Trust is a 'funder of last resort'. Applicants should therefore ensure that their efforts to obtain other funding support for their project, and the outcomes, are included in the application.
