The current research areas of staff within the Department embraces
social, economic, political, historical, theoretical and practical
aspects of education more generally, and Māori education more specifically.
They include:
Theoretical/Practical approaches to research that include Kaupapa
Mäori Theory, Mäori Centred, Matauranga and Tikanga Māori, Research
Methodology, Professional Practice, Critical Theory, Research Ethics
and Program Evaluation.
General areas of research that include ‘Race’/ethnicity, the Politics
of Difference, social theory, feminist theory, Language Revitalisation,
Literacy Indigenous education, Globalisation, Representation, Cultural
Difference, Identity, Māori Pedagogy, Bicultural/Multicultural and
Bilingual Education.
