Commission of New Work from Sir William Southgate
The members of the New Zealand Piano Quartet are dedicated to the promotion and performance of new works. Unfortunately, there is very little New Zealand Music written for this combination of instruments. To help rectify this situation, they applied to Creative New Zealand for a grant to commission a new work from the preminent New Zealand composer Sir William Southgate.
The application was successful and with the generous funding of Creative New Zealand, plans are moving ahead swiftly. If all goes well, the new work will be ready in early 2003 and the group will be performing it in their upcoming season of concerts.
