Degree Kickstart

Degree kickstart

Get ahead in your study with Degree Kickstart. This course gets you earning credits towards your degree programme early, meaning you have less pressure throughout the rest of the year.

In 5 weeks you can earn 15 credits which you can use towards your full degree programme. The course you will study is hand picked to work as a component of many of the university’s degree programmes and gives students for whom English is their second language a helping hand in their academic writing.

Degree Kickstart will help you develop crucial academic skills such as writing English for New Zealand university study; planning, drafting, and editing in writing; writing clearly and precisely; presenting the arguments and ideas of others; using and acknowledging ideas from academic sources and investigating and producing new kinds of texts.

By taking this course before the start of regular semester you will gain skills which will help in the rest of your study; and reduce the pressure of studying multiple courses in the first year. You will also have an opportunity to learn about the campus and the services available and make friends from different degree programmes across the university.

If your student visa for high school is valid through to end of February 2021 or later then you do not need to do anything further in order to attend the Kickstart Course.  If your visa is not valid during that time, you will need to apply for a visitors visa with study conditions.

Use the time you have in New Zealand to get ahead of the crowd and put the first building blocks in place for a successful future with Massey University.
