The Ormond Meat Marketing Scholarship encourages students to undertake a Bachelor of AgriCommerce that will prepare them for an agribusiness career within the meat industry.
This scholarship is named after Sir John Ormond (1905 to 1995), a long-time chairman of the New Zealand Meat Producers Board.
Value and tenure
The value of the scholarship is up to $2000 and the tenure is for a single academic year.
The scholarship is offered annually as funds permit.
Typical number on offer
One scholarship is typically offered each year.
Applicants must be first-year Massey University students who are enrolled full time in the Bachelor of AgriCommerce.
The selection criterion is academic merit, though preference is given to applicants who can show within their application that they are sincere in following a career path into agribusiness and the meat industry.
The University Scholarships Committee may take account of other scholarships and bursaries held by the applicants in seeking an equitable distribution of funds.
the scholarship is awarded by the University Scholarships Committee on the recommendation of the Applied Academic Programmes Scholarships Committee.
The University Scholarships Committee has the right to refrain from making an award if there are no suitable applicants and its decision is final.
Conditions of the scholarship
Recipients who withdraw from their studies during the year in which the scholarship was awarded must repay the money awarded to them.
The scholarship may be held in conjunction with other scholarships, bursaries or awards, so long as those scholarships, bursaries or awards permit co-tenure.
The closing date for applications is 3 March. Incomplete or late applications are not accepted.
