Purpose
The Massey University Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Trust Pasifika Scholarship is for students of Pacific Commonwealth nations and New Zealand citizens of Pacific Commonwealth nations descent at Massey University.

The scholarship is available for the years 2016 to 2020.

Background
The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust is a charitable foundation with a mission to leave a lasting legacy, owned by the whole Commonwealth, in honour of Her Majesty The Queen.
A key objective of the trust is to assist people with disabilities by providing access to further education, enabling them to play an active part in their communities, and challenging community preconceptions of what they can do.
Massey University supports the trust’s objectives and principles by offering this scholarship.

Value and tenure
The annual value of the scholarship is $3000.

Payment is made in two instalments, following the final date to withdraw in semester one and semester two. Payment in semester two is subject to review of academic performance.

One scholarship is offered each year.

Eligibility
Applicants must be citizens of a Pacific Commonwealth nation or New Zealand citizens of Pacific Commonwealth nations descent.

Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at any campus at Massey University.

Selection criteria
The scholarship is awarded on academic merit, with preference given to applicants who have a disability.

Selection panel
The University Scholarships Committee selects the recipient. The committee has the right to refrain from making an award if there are no suitable applicants and its decision is final.
The University Scholarships Committee may take account of other scholarships and bursaries held by the applicants in seeking an equitable distribution of funds.

Conditions of the scholarship
The scholarship may be held in conjunction with other scholarships, bursaries or awards, so long as those scholarships, bursaries or awards permit co-tenure.
Applicants may reapply in following years, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. This requires a new application each year.

Closing date
The closing date for applications is 28 February. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.
